THERE MAY BE A LOT OF IT. >> NOISE IN THE SINGLES, THE SHARKS TEND TO USE TO TO FIND A TYPICAL PREY. BUT IT'S SO RARE THAT IT'S KIND OF LIKE HOW DO I DO WITH THE BAT LOTTERY? THAT'S JUST HOW RARE IT IS. >> SO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR SHARK SURVEY AND SOME THINGS THAT WE HAVE FOUND THAT YOU ACTUALLY WISH THAT MORE PEOPLE KNEW. WELL, THE SHORT SURVEY HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 5 DECADES AND IT ACTUALLY SUGGESTS THAT OVER TIME WE NOW HAVE A FEW ARE REALLY BIG SHARKS THAN WE USED TO IN THE PAST. >> WE DO THINK THAT AS CONSERVATION MATTERS HAVE BEEN IN PLACE AND RAMPING UP OF THE LAST 2, 3, DECADES, THERE ARE SOME SIGNALS OF INCREASES AND SOME MAYBE DUSTY'S, MAYBE HAMMERHEADS. WELL, THERE'S SPECIES WE'RE NOT SEEING UPTICKS IN OUR THINGS LIKE SOPHIE'S I SUPPOSE I WISH PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD JUST HOW SCOOTERS SHARKS TEND TO A LOT OF THEIR BEHAVIORS. A LOT OF THEIR ADAPTATIONS ARE ALL ABOUT MINIMIZING IT'S PRETTY EASY TO SPOT THE SHARK. I THINK PEOPLE SOMETIMES YOUR STORIES ABOUT SHARKS AND BULL SHARKS MAY BE THAT EXCEPTION. THEY CAN BE A LITTLE MORE AGGRESSIVE. BUT WE HAVE LOTS OF SPECIES OVER 20 SPECIES. YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE ON ANY GIVEN DAY AND WILL ALLOW MORE. AND THEY'RE ALMOST ALWAYS VERY SKITTISH AND >> I'M CURIOUS, IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC THING THAT YOU CAN MAYBE THINK OF THAT MIGHT BE LEADING TO THE INCREASE IN SHARK SIGHTINGS? MUCH OF CLIMATE CHANGE AS A I KNOW THE WATER IS GETTING WARMER AS WELL. >> I CERTAINLY THINK THE BIGGEST THING IS JUST A NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SPENDING TIME IN THE WATER AND THE FACT THAT OVER THE LAST DECADE ALMOST ALWAYS HAVE A PHONE WITH US. AND SO >> PEOPLE LIKE ME OR YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE AT THE MIGHT TAKE A VIDEO OF A SHARK BUT SHARKS LIVE IN THE COASTAL ZONE. IT'S A GREAT PLACE FOR THEM TO FIND FOOD AS THEY ARE GIVING BIRTH TO THEIR THEY'RE OFTEN DOING THAT AND SHOWER WATER. SO THEY'RE GETTING THEIR NEAR A COAST. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS REALLY INSIGHTFUL FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN WONDERING, WHY IS IT WE ACTUALLY BEEN SEEING A LOT MORE SPOTTINGS OF CHARTS, AT LEAST BEING REPORTED IN THE NEWS. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR
