Marine dies after physical training in Camp Lejeune

A Camp Lejeune-based Marine died Monday afternoon following personal training. The cause of his death is still under investigation.

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune-based Marine died Monday afternoon following personal training. The cause of his death is still under investigation.

Staff Sgt. Carlous Perry, 30, of Clay, Miss., was assigned to the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune. He joined the Marine Corps in 2000 and was promoted to his current rank in 2008.

In 2007, Perry was deployed with Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has been awarded with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
