RALEIGH, N.C. — Back in the pre-COVID days, Marbles Kids Museum hosted a big in-person fundraiser called the Marbles Imagination Ball. It was a grown-up affair that raised lots of money for the downtown Raleigh museum

But the pandemic has forced Marbles to plan a different kind of event for its signature fundraiser these last two years. And that has allowed for more people to get involved and support the effort. Money raised supports Marbles Full Circle Access programs, which include camp scholarships, exclusive events for kids with disabilities and free family nights for nonprofit partner agencies.

This year, the ball is taking place virtually through Aug. 14. Here's how you can get involved.

  • Shop the silent auction: The silent auction is open now through Aug. 14 and has all kinds of amazing items, including an ultimate NC State fan pack, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Carolina Ballet, catering from Lady Fingers for a year, a trip to Antigua, an American Girl doll and much more. You can check it all out here.
  • Attend the Imagination Ball virtually. It's free to watch the event, which starts at 7 p.m., Aug. 14, and runs for 45 minutes. It includes a live auction and raffles. "We want people to tune in to the program with a few friends and get ready to BID BOLDLY for PLAY," Meghan Fitzgerald, Marbles' director of marketing, tells me. You can get your tickets here.
