RALEIGH, N.C. — Marbles Kids Museum has a few updates — the shutdown of one of its exhibits to make way for something new and some new hours as summer comes to a close.

First up: Ideaworks will close Monday, Aug. 23, so Marbles can make room for a new exhibit. Ideaworks is the second floor exhibit where kids can build and race cars, play with real tools, build with giant blocks and design their own fashions. No details yet on the new exhibit, but, at last check, Marbles tells me it should open around the end of September.

Also, starting Wednesday, Aug. 25, the downtown Raleigh museum's hours will return to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. (Marbles stayed open an hour later during the summer.)

As always, pre-booked admission tickets are required. Museum members can start playing an hour early, at 9 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday. And, starting Thursday, Sept. 9, the museum will have extended hours, staying open until 7 p.m., on Thursdays.

Also, the Terminix “Play Late for Less” is 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and admission is 50% off. (That deal continues on Sept. 9 when it starts staying open until 7 p.m., Thursdays.)

If you go, just know that Marbles requires that all visitors ages five and up wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status, per city and county mandate.

More information is on Marbles' website.
