KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — Deputies are searching for two suspects who shot a man in the parking lot of a business in Knightdale. The men fled the scene on foot.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, the person shot during the crime was taken to the hospital, where he is in surgery.

The crime happened just before 5 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of Car Cosmotology, located at 5800 Knightdale Blvd. near Old Milburnie Road.

Officials are using drones, K-9 units and any search tactic they have available to find the two men responsible.

The red truck at the center of the investigation appears to have a shattered windshield, but it's unclear whether that happened during the carjacking.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911. Officials are asking the public nearby to be alert, but don't believe there is a danger to the community.

"If anyone sees anybody walking, who doesn't appear to be part of the community, go ahead and call the police," said Sheriff Gerald Baker.

This story will be updated as new information is released.
