PITTSBORO, N.C. — One person was wounded Tuesday and a second could face charges in a hunting accident in Chatham County, authorities said.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. near the Farrington Point boat ramp at Jordan Lake.

Bob Shuller, 49, of Thomasville, was part of a group hunting deer and was struck in the neck and leg by shotgun pellets from another hunter's gun, according to an officer with the state Wildlife Resources Commission.

Shuller underwent surgery at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, and was listed in fair condition Tuesday evening.

Wildlife officers will consult with Chatham County prosecutors to determine whether to file charges in the case.

The incident was at least the second hunting accident in the state this month. Two weeks ago, a hunter killed a man in the Pisgah National Forest.
