Man wounded in Apex shooting

Apex police said a man was wounded in a shooting in the 1000 block of Shackleton Road early Friday. K-9 units were called out to search for the shooter.

APEX, N.C. — Apex police said a man was shot in the leg at 1024 Shackleton Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The victim, whose identity wasn't released, told police that another man shot him.

The victim was treated at the scene by EMS personnel, then transported to WakeMed. Police said his injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.

"The area of this incident is safe, and there is no immediate danger to the public," Capt. Jacques K. Gilbert said in a statement.

K-9 units searched the area early Friday, and police they were developing information about a suspect. The investigation was ongoing.
