18-year-old charged in double shooting at Raleigh apartment complex

Police were searching for clues Monday after a 36-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were shot at a Raleigh apartment complex, authorities said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman has been charged in connection with a double shooting on New Year's Eve in Raleigh.

Police found a 36-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman with gunshot wounds at an apartment complex in the 7100 block of Plumleaf Road on Dec. 31.

The two victims, identified in an arrest warrant as Diamond Belle-Vaney and Lawrence Strickland, were rushed for medical treatment to WakeMed for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Elisha Nikole Dean, 18, was charged Tuesday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Dean was being held at the Wake County Detention Center under $250,000 bond.

The relationship between the victims and their identities has not yet been released.
