Man will be charged after speeding car crashed into Fayetteville power pole

Fayetteville, N.C. — Charges are pending for a man who police said crashed into a utility pole, causing a power outage Monday night.
Fayetteville police said officers saw a vehicle speeding excessively on Ireland Drive near Coventry Drive at about 8:15 p.m. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which crashed into a utility pole near Village Drive, police said.
Authorities said the driver fled from the vehicle, but was taken into custody. He was being treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for minor injuries Monday night.
The crash resulted in a power outage that lasted several hours and the temporary closure of Ireland Drive.
Authorities have not released the driver’s name or the specific charges he will face.
