Man whose flight triggered lockdowns at Wakefield schools charged
A Raleigh man whose attempt to elude police on Monday in a stolen vehicle triggered a sprawling lockdown at three Wakefield school campuses just as classes were starting has been arrested, court documents and police confirm.
Posted — UpdatedTahvier Jamell Cambridge, 21, of Raleigh, has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm and a felony charge of possession of stolen goods/property, according to court records.
The lockdowns at Wakefield High School, Wakefield Middle School and Wakefield Elementary School, all located on Wakefield Pines Drive near Wake Forest, were ordered about 7:30 a.m. after a stolen vehicle was reported in the area.
The vehicle was spotted by police, but the three occupants inside the vehicle drove from the area before abandoning the car and running from the scene on foot.
Police were able to arrest Cambridge, whose takedown was captured on camera by Jack Watson, a college student who was at home when Cambridge was taken into custody.
It was not clear if police have arrested the other two occupants that were inside the car.
