WILSON, N.C. — A man wanted after a standoff with Wilson police officers is in custody.

Gaudalupe Montalvo, 37, brandished a semiautomatic pistol and threatened two men shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. Montalvo allegedly struck Luis Antonio Sanchez in the head with the gun and fired at Eduardo Leon Alvarez.

Alvarez suffered a minor injury to his leg, officers said.

The suspect retreated to his house at 1023 Mercer St. Police set up a perimeter around the house and crisis negotiatiors attempted to communicate with Montalvo.

Officers who obtained a search warrant and entered the house found that Montalvo had left.

Montalvo turned himself in to officers Monday afternoon at the Wilson Police Department. He was being held in jail under a $3,000 bond.
