WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A man wanted in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and considered a fugitive from justice was arrested Sunday in Wake Forest.

Lavert Darren Conway, 26, of Hackensack, N.J., faces a charge of violating a court order in his home state, as well as 12 child sex charges in Pennsylvania.

According to media reports, police in Bergen County, N.J., arrested Conway in April after three women said he touched them inappropriately.

Warrants from Pennsylvania charge him with 12 offenses, including child rape, for alleged incidents involving a girl under age 13 between 2012 and 2013.

It was not immediately clear why Conway was not in custody on those charges or how he came to be in North Carolina. He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center under $5 million bond.
