GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A man was arrested Sunday in connection with the March 2 shooting of another man at a Goldsboro home.

Alexander Rickey Shaw Jr. was arrested after he was stopped for speeding along the 900 block of South Audubon Avenue, according to officials.

A warrant for attempted murder was issued for Shaw on March 11 following the shooting of Steven Belle Britt, 42, at a home at 1404 Mimosa Street.

Shaw was being held in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $2.5 million bond.

Goldsboro police said the investigation is ongoing but that Shaw is a validated gang member.

Britt was hospitalized with critical injuries at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. An update was not provided on his condition.
