Raleigh police were on the scene investigating late Tuesday night after a man was sent to the hospital after being shot.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was taken to WakeMed overnight after a shooting at an apartment complex.

Raleigh police were at the complex, located at the corner of Garner Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, before 11 p.m. and were investigating into early Wednesday morning.

Officials said there was a fight that led up to the shooting, which happened in the parking lot.

According to officials, one man was driven to WakeMed in a personal car before ambulances arrived at the scene. There was no word on his condition or how many times he had been shot.

Police were searching for the suspect Wednesday morning.

One resident told WRAL News they heard about 11 shots and some yelling. Another neighbor said they heard 30 shots.

Garner Road was closed during the investigation.
