Man surprises girlfriend with creative proposal at RDU

Candice Givens got quite the surprise when she got off her plane at RDU this week.

Candice's now-fiance, Khaled Omar, surprised her in the Southwest terminal with balloons spelling out, "Will you marry me?"

Candice said she and her mom were flying home to Raleigh from Dallas.

Family and friends were gathered to witness the surprise, and onlookers took photos and video and applauded as the couple embraced. Then, Khaled got down on one knee and proposed to his tearful fiance in front of a heart of rose petals.

Southwest Airlines helped the couple make the event special with a voucher for a free flight and a toast in the middle of the terminal.

"Thank you to everyone who helped pull this off," Candice posted on Facebook following the surprise engagement. "I had no idea and I am usually very hard to surprise! Thank you to Southwest Airlines for the toast, thank you to all our family and friends who made their way to RDU and thank you to those who kept this a secret! Thank you to the strangers who stood around waiting for me to arrive!"
