Fayetteville police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night.

<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — Fayetteville police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night.

Officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Cliffdale Road and Regency Drive at about 8:30 p.m. and found Willard C. McMillian, 53, injured. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Cliffdale Road remained closed between Bunce Road and Pritchett Drive while authorities investigated.

Police did not say if charges will be filed in connection with the crash.

The 12-year-old boy had been required to sleep in a tube-like tent, enclosed by a solid plastic sheet. Upon discovering that the zipper for the tent was broken, the report says, "staff needed a zip tie out of the tool bag."

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton Middle School athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
