FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County investigators were searching Wednesday for a man who robbed an Eastover convenience store of about 6,000 lottery scratch-off cards.

A clerk at the Kangaroo Express at 3319 Murphy Road told investigators that a man ran into the store at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and grabbed a plastic dispenser of scratch-off cards. The man tried to grab a second dispenser but was unsuccessful, the clerk told authorities.

The robber, who was wearing a black ski mask and was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes, ran from the store toward a nearby motel on Dunn Road, authorities said.

The clerk called the North Carolina Education Lottery's Theft Division and had all of the stolen cards voided so they could not be cashed.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or 910-484-TIPS.
