CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police say an argument between two men led to a fatal stabbing behind a convenience store on Main Street Saturday night.

Police say Jose Louis Ramirez Delgado, 53, stabbed Carlos Luis Rubio, 50, twice behind the Clayton Mart and took off running around 10 p.m.

Rubio, of 421 W. First St., was rushed to WakeMed, where he was pronounced dead.

A team of officers and detectives, including the department’s newest K-9 officer, Abel, searched for Delgado and found him hiding under a nearby warehouse early Sunday.

Delgado, of 415 S. Lombard St., was charged with homicide and was being held in the Johnston County Detention Center on no bond.

"This is the first homicide in the Town of Clayton in seven years, and the department is pleased that an arrest could be made so quickly," Clayton spokeswoman Stacy Beard said in a statement.
