RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were searching for a man who attempted to abduct a child from outside a Wake County library Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The incident happened about 12:15 p.m. outside the Green Road Community Library, located at 4101 Green Road, police said.

A police spokeswoman said the child was not abducted and officers are still trying to determine "the facts of the situation."

Witnesses told WRAL News that they heard screaming, and they saw a group of kids running.

"Then we heard someone yelling that someone was trying to take a child," parent Jonathon Young said.

Police have not yet provided a description of the person believed to be involved.
