FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 24-year-old man was shot to death in Fayetteville early Sunday, and Cumberland County authorities are searching for a man named as a person of interest in the case.

Christopher Jenrette was killed at 2622 Warhorse St. around 3:30 a.m., said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. Investigators believe that an argument led to the shooting.

Investigators want to question Marcus Harris, 36, about the case. Harris has not been named as a suspect in Jenrette's death, but he is wanted on charged of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities cautioned that Harris is armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about Harris' whereabouts should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.

Tanna said that Jenrette's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Authorities didn't release more details of the case, citing the ongoing investigation.
