FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man wanted in connection with the death of a woman at a Fayetteville motel this week has been arrested, police said Friday.

Phillip Jerome Little, 46, was taken into custody in Asheboro by State Bureau of Investigation agents and members of the Fayetteville Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.

Fayetteville police officers responded to the Travel Inn, at 321 N. Eastern Blvd., on Oct. 23, 2019, and found the person dead in one of the rooms.

Officers responded to the Travel Inn, at 321 N. Eastern Blvd., shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and found Meoshia Corbett, 26, of Fayetteville, dead in one of the rooms after someone called police about a 2006 blue Jeep Cherokee that had possibly been stolen and was at the car wash next to the motel.

When officers arrived, they were alerted about the body and that Little had fled from the area in the blue SUV.

Little was said to be on parole for several crimes, including kidnapping with intent to kill, police said.

Mike Naik, the owner of the motel, told WRAL News that Little and Corbett had an on-and-off relationship and were living together in one of the rooms on the second floor.

Naik said Little confessed to the slaying.

"He had left the room key and a note that (said), 'I killed somebody in my room,'" Naik said.

Naik say Little worked at the car wash next door, and the motel owner didn't find the note until the car wash manager came rushing over to the motel looking for Little.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit asked that anyone with information about Corbett's death contact them at 910-751-1046 or Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
