Man sought after 13-year-old shot

Rocky Mount police are looking for a man wanted on charges of possession of a stolen firearm after, they say, a 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot Thursday evening.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police are looking for a man wanted on charges of possession of a stolen firearm after, they say, a 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot Thursday evening.

Police said that Trae Hakeem Crandell, 18, was handling a stolen firearm in a residence at 1108 Delphia Drive shortly before 8 p.m., when the gun went off, striking the teen.

The boy was transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where he was listed in stable condition Friday. Police didn't release his name, but said he does not live where the shooting occurred.

Crandell remained at large Friday.
