Nashville, N.C. — A 26-year-old man was shot outside a convenience store in Nash County late Saturday, police said.
Marcus Antonio Alston, 19, of 424 Woodville Drive, is charged with shooting Shiaphan Andrew Lewis at Omar's Quickmart in Nashville.
Police said the store owner said that Alson and Lewis, who are both his friends, were there when he was closing up around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. They went outside to start his car, then he heard a loud noise and saw both men running down Blake Street.
Police said officers found Lewis at Brooklyn and Sixth Street and determined that he had been shot.
Lewis' injuries are serious but non-life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where his condition was stable Sunday.
Police said they arrested Alston at his home and found a handgun believed to be used in the shooting.
Police haven't determined a motive in the shooting but don't believe it was drug-related.
Alston was placed in the Nash County jail under a $75,000 bond.
