Raleigh police say a man was shot multiple times Tuesday before 4:15 a.m. while he was trying to get into his car at a gas station in the 1800 block of New Bern Avenue

The man, identified as Devonte Latreal Martin, 27, was taken to WakeMed, where he died from his injuries.

Crime scene tape surrounded the parking lot Tuesday, and evidence markers were placed near multiple shell casings on the ground, indicating many shots were fired.

The shooting occurred at the same intersection where Timothy Solas, a 16-year-old Leesville High School student, was shot in the head in front of a convenience store on April 12. Solas died after spending a week in critical condition at a local hospital, the Raleigh Police Department said. Police believe that Solas was an innocent bystander and was not the intended target of the gunfire.
