Man shot, killed at Cumberland County apartment complex, search for suspect continues

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said a man died from his injuries in the shooting at the Crosswinds Green Two apartment complex.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Authorities responded to a Friday night deadly shooting near Hope Mills, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said 58-year-old Lowell Anderson died from his injuries in the shooting, which happened before 11 p.m. Friday at the Crosswinds Green Two apartment complex at Town Street near Legion Road.

Detectives said 34-year-old Zachary Maurice Richardson is wanted for Anderson's murder.

Richardson is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has information on his whereabouts, please call 911.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit.
