Man dies after self-inflicted gunshot wound at WakeMed North parking lot

Raleigh police said there is no threat to patients or staff after the shooting at 10000 Falls of Neuse Road.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man shot Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of WakeMed North Hospital has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The man has been identified as 48-year-old James Tyrone Davis, also a suspect in a previous shooting that happened Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Wake County sheriff's deputies responded to a call at about 8:30 a.m. at the 2700 block of Covered Wagon Lane, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. They believe Davis is connected to the incident.

When discovered, Davis was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Raleigh police said there is no threat to patients or staff after the shooting at 10000 Falls of Neuse Road.

As a precaution, WakeMed North was temporarily put on controlled access.

The Raleigh Police Department is currently investigating Davis's death.
