<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A man shot Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of WakeMed North Hospital has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The man has been identified as 48-year-old James Tyrone Davis, also a suspect in a <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/man-shot-in-wake-neighborhood-hospitalized-person-of-interest-dies-of-self-inflicted-gunshot-hours-later/20808019/">previous shooting</a> that happened Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Wake County sheriff's deputies responded to a call at about 8:30 a.m. at the 2700 block of Covered Wagon Lane, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. They believe Davis is connected to the incident.

When discovered, Davis was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As a precaution, WakeMed North was temporarily put on controlled access.

The Raleigh Police Department is currently investigating Davis's death.
