Man shot in Orange County Thursday dies at hospital

A person of interest is being interviewed by investigators at this time.

MEBANE, N.C. — A man died after being shot in the abdomen in Orange County on Thursday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to Alice Miller Road off Richmond Road in Efland this afternoon just before 5 p.m. in response to a call about a gunshot and discovered the man who had been shot. The man was transported to Duke Hospital, where he died.

A person of interest is being interviewed by investigators in relation to the shooting but officers say there is no ongoing threat to the community. The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of family members.
