Man robs downtown Durham bank

A man stole cash from a bank in downtown Durham Friday afternoon, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man stole cash from a bank in downtown Durham Friday afternoon, police said.

Investigators said the man entered the SOUTHBank, 400 W. Main St., around 4:15 p.m. He asked an employee some questions and then demanded money. Cashiers gave him an undisclosed amount of money.

The man was last seen running out the back door of the bank toward Morgan Street.

The robber did not display a weapon, and no one was injured.

Police described the robber as a black man with a dark complexion, standing between 5 feet 6 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore dark pants and a plaid overcoat with a hood. He carried a bag similar to a computer case with a shoulder strap.
