Man Robbed Bank With Bomb Threat

Investigators say the robber put a bag on the counter and threatened to detonate a bomb by remote control if anyone called police. A bomb was never found.

HOPE MILLS — Police say a man robbed a bank in Hope Mills with a bomb threat.

The robbery happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday at the First South Bank on North Main Street.

Investigators say the robber put a bag on the counter and threatened to detonate a bomb by remote control if anyone called police. A bomb was never found.

Witnesses said the robber ran out the side door and into the woods with an undisclosed amount of money. So far, there have been no arrests in the case.
