Man rescued after SUV overturns, ends up in trees on Louisburg Road

— A man was pinned in his overturned SUV after losing control on northbound Louisburg Road and crashing into a group of pine trees early Sunday morning.

Police said the man was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle around 1:45 a.m.

According to authorities at the scene, the challenging extrication took about an hour. The man was then taken from the car by Raleigh firefighters and transported to Wake Med with 'non-life threatening' injuries.

Friends of the victim huddled together in the cold as they watched and waited for news about him.

The Raleigh Police Department is investigating the accident.
