DURHAM, N.C. — A 42-year-old man received life-threatening injuries in a Durham crash involving eight cars.

Shaun Barrett was injured in the crash just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Durham police said Barrett was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang when he crashed into seven cars stopped at the light at Durham-Chapel Hill and Tower Boulevards.

Barrett was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The drivers of the other cars involved were not injured, police said, but a bystander received minor injuries while trying to help others involved in the crash.

Police said speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Investigator J. Rose at 919-560-4935, ext. 29409 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
