DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to killing a prostitute by stabbing her 70 times in 2004.

Shon Bagley, 30, of 308 Lynn Road, received between nearly 9 years and 11½ years in prison for what was described as one Durham's most gruesome killings.

The body of Darla Corichi, 24, was found around 9:40 a.m. on March 9, 2004, on railroad tracks behind Durham Warehouse Co. at 706 Ellis Road. Corichi had been stabbed more than 70 times.

Investigators believe Corichi's killers left her body on the tracks in hopes that a train would hit her and destroy evidence of the homicide.

Bagley was charged with the murder in October 2004 and apprehended in Charlotte in January 2005.

Bagley's co-defendant in the killing, Allen Keith Craige, 27, of 4401 Emerald Forest Drive, has not gone to trial yet.
