Man pleads guilty to second-degree murder

Dwayne Haywood pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday in the June 19, 2001, death of a Raleigh Man.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Dwayne Haywood pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday in the June 19, 2001, death of a Raleigh Man.

Haywood was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport after he forced someone to drive him there at gunpoint, authorities said.

Following his arrest, Hawyood was deemed incompetent to stand trial, but doctors from Dorothea Dix Hospital said he was now competent.

He was sentenced to 151 months to 191 months in prison for the crime.
