Man killed when nitrous oxide tank explodes in Sanford

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an industrial accident at Sadler’s Automotive at 6342 Lemon Spring Road just after 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses told deputies that a man was preparing to fill a nitrous oxide tank when it exploded. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video from the scene showed the explosion caused the ceiling of the building to cave in and the windows had been blown out.

Deputies said the name of the victim is being withheld until family members are notified.
