Man, 49, killed in southern Wake County fire

Firefighters were called to 8405 Falcon Crest Circle, located between Fuquay-Varina and Angier, at about 9:30 p.m. Heavy fire was visible when firefighters arrived, officials said.

Gerald Lyons was found inside the home. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Firefighters had to pull out of the home due to the fire being so intense.
