Man, 20, killed in south Durham shooting

A 20-year-old Durham man was shot and killed late Thursday following an argument in the 700 block of Atlantic Street in the southern part of the city, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 20-year-old Durham man was shot and killed late Thursday following an argument in the 700 block of Atlantic Street in the southern part of the city, police said.

Officers responding to nearby Mutual Drive at about 10:30 p.m. found Javaun Devonte Graves, who had been shot. Graves was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the shooting was not a random act. No arrests have been made in the incident, which is still under investigation.
