Man killed in overnight crash on US 70 in Durham

One person died Thursday night after a crash on U.S. Highway 70 in Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — One man died Thursday night when he was hit on U.S. Highway 70 in Durham.

Around 8:30 p.m., officers with the Durham Police Department responded to the crash between Pleasant Drive and East End Avenue, near Lynn Road. Officials said a 2007 Honda Civic was traveling in the northbound lane of US 70 when it collided with a 003 Cadillac CTS.

The driver of the Civic was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Miguel Resendiz, who was in the Cadillac, was ejected from his car. He was transported to Duke Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said a second person in the Cadillac drove away from the scene.

The crash is under investigation, and no one has been charged. US 70 was closed for four hours overnight.
