Man charged with first-degree murder in Edgecombe County shooting

One man was killed after a shooting incident in Princeville on Tuesday afternoon.

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. — Edgecombe County Police arrested a 20-year-old man Friday afternoon in connection with a Princeville murder that occurred Tuesday.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired and, upon arrival, Tavon Dionte Clark, 29, of Rocky Mount, with a gunshot wound behind the Neville Street Apartments near Tarboro.

J'Von Charmorris Coley, 20, of 115 Travis Lane, was arrested Friday around 5 p.m. and charged wih first-degree murder and conducting pattern of gang activity. He is currently being held at the Edgecombe County Detention Center under no bond.

Several people from the neighborhood gathered and looked on after the shooting, but all said that they didn't see or hear anything related to the shooting.
