Man killed in Durham wreck

Durham, N.C. — A 37-year-old Durham man died in a single-vehicle wreck near Hyde Park Avenue and Fern Street shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Walter Sonnie Brewer was speeding when he lost control of his Mercury Cougar, police said. The car struck two utility poles and a parked vehicle, and then overturned.

Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the wreck continues, police said.
