FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police said the suspects in an overnight kidnapping, robbery and murder returned to the gas station scene of their crime Sunday afternoon to steal surveillance equipment.

Police distributed images Sunday afternoon of three men they say robbed Errol Williams, 27, in the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express, at 5642 Bragg Boulevard, around 4:45 a.m. Two of the men got into Williams' car and forced him to drive to the Gregory Street area off Shaw Road, where they shot and killed him when he tried to run to safety, police said.

Just after 3 p.m., police said, men driving a vehicle that matched the one used in the earlier crime and matching the description of the suspects returned to the Kangaroo, robbed two people inside and took the video surveillance system from the store.

The surveillance images from the first crime show one the suspects, who was wearing a black T-shirt, black cap with a "T" logo and a silver chain with a cross.

Police said the three men were driving a gray or silver Kia Sportage. They warned that the men should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police didn't say if Williams knew the men who kidnapped him. They have not offered a motive for the crime.
