Man killed in assault at Rocky Mount nightclub
A man died after being assaulted in a Rocky Mount nightclub early Saturday, police said.

Investigators believe that Cornelius Clark, 36, assaulted Jakwan Pittman, 33, inside Club Rain, 349 Falls Road, around 1:30 a.m., police said.
Pittman was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where he died. Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Clark was charged with first-degree murder and was taken to the Nash County jail, where he was denied bond.
He has previous convictions for selling drugs and resisting police officers, according to state Department of Correction records.
