Man kicked out windshield to free himself after Johnston County crash

Wilsons Mills, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol cites speed as a factor in a single-car crash that left one driver injured Sunday morning.
Around 6:45 a.m., a minivan crashed on Wilsons Mills Road in Johnston County.
Crews at the scene said the van struck two mailboxes and traveled 389 feet after leaving the roadway.
Firefighters said the driver was trapped inside the van but kicked out the windshield to free himself.
Speed was believed to be a factor.
The crash is under investigation.
