RED SPRINGS, N.C. — Authorities in Hoke County are looking for two people wanted in connection with a home invasion and shooting over the weekend.

Hoke County sheriff's deputies were called to a home on North Hilltop Road around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, where they found James Crump, 58, shot in the knee.

Crump was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital for treatment, authorities said. He was later transferred to a Charlotte hospital.

The extent of his injuries was unclear.

According to investigators, Crump told detectives that two men wielding a double-barreled shotgun kicked in his door and shot him.

Investigators were unsure if anything was taken from Crump's home "due to the victim's status."

Authorities only had a vague description of one of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact the Hoke County Sheriff's Office at 919-875-5111.
