Man injured in Moore County after truck shot with rifle

A West End man was arrested after authorities said Friday that he used a rifle to shoot a passing vehicle, injuring someone inside.

WEST END, N.C. — A West End man was arrested after authorities said Friday that he used a rifle to shoot a passing vehicle, injuring someone inside.

Daniel Caleb Tucker, 20, of the 2300 block of Murdocksville Road, was charged with two counts of discharge of a weapon into occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Two men told deputies they were traveling on Murdocksville Road in the Eastwood area Monday when their truck was hit with a rifle round. One of the men was injured in the incident and taken to Moore Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Tucker was arrested Tuesday. He was held in the Moore County Detention Center under $5,000 secured bond.

His first court appearance is set for Aug. 24.
