RALEIGH, N.C. — A man riding on a stolen motorcycle was hurt Friday night after he crashed the bike following his refusal to pull over for police, authorities said.

Michael Brandon Jones, 25, of Bailey, was taken to WakeMed for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries following the incident, which occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Charges against Jones include fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of stolen motor vehicle and injury to personal property. He was being held Saturday at the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Jones was expected to appear in court for a first appearance hearing.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said one of his deputies saw a motorcycle without a license plate traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 64 near Rolesville Road. The motorcycle driver declined to stop for the deputy and fled from the scene, the sheriff said.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a ditch on New Bern Avenue near Rogers Road, according to authorities.

Authorities have not said if Jones would be ticketed in connection with the incident.
