29-year-old Cary man dies day after house fire

Ryan Michael Crosby, 29, died Wednesday morning. It comes after the Tuesday morning house fire on Grey Fox Court.

CARY, N.C. — A man died Wednesday morning after he was hospitalized the day before due to a Cary house fire.

Ryan Michael Crosby, 29, died after the 7 a.m. Tuesday fire on Grey Fox Court, off Lake Pine Drive.

“Our hearts are heavy today following [Tuesday's] tragic event," said Cary Fire Chief Mike Cooper. "First responders followed protocols and did everything they could to prevent loss of life and minimize property destruction. I want to thank everyone who supported this incident for their tireless effort and dedication.”

Authorities initially took Crosby to WakeMed Cary. He was later taken to UNC Jaycee's Burn Center. Another adult was taken to WakeMed Cary with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cary firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy fire coming from two upstairs windows.

Firefighters said there were a total of five adults in the home.

The incident remains under investigation.
