RALEIGH, N.C. — A man is in the hospital after getting shot Wednesday afternoon outside an apartment building.

It happened after 1 p.m. outside the building at the Village at Town Center Apartments at 4110 Wake Hills Lane.

Raleigh police said a man was shot in the parking lot. Authorities took him to WakeMed, where he is expected to recover.

Apartment residents told WRAL News the shooting has shaken them up. The shooting happened across the parking lot from where Wayne Davis lives with his family.

“It's scary. I [have] kids,” Davis said. “I’m thinking if someone's shooting, bullets don't have names and it's making me think I really [have to] get out of here and make sure my kids are safe.”

Davis said he plans to move out next week after Wednesday’s shooting.

Mayson Madden said he won’t be renewing his lease.

"You want to feel safe wherever you’re laying your head, but just knowing something like this can happen less than 100 feet away from you doesn’t give you a lot of comfort," Madden said.

WRAL News has asked police if they have any suspects and how they may be connected to the man who was shot. We’re still waiting to hear back.
