Man hit by car during domestic dispute in Sanford; 2 women charged

A woman was arrested after she hit a man with her car during a domestic dispute Thursday night in Sanford.

SANFORD, N.C. — A woman was arrested after she hit a man with her car during a domestic dispute Thursday night in Sanford.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that Jesse William Godfrey, 71, was struck by a car driven by Teresa Andrianna Monroy, 25, while she attempted to leave a home at 302 John Godfrey Road following a domestic dispute at about 9:45 p.m.

Godfrey was taken to UNC Hospitals, where he was listed in good condition Friday afternoon.

Monroy was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She was being held under $10,000 secured bond.

Amy Jeanette Godfrey, 26, was arrested in connection with the domestic incident and charged with felony assault by strangulation and simple assault. She was being held Friday night without bond.
