— Halloween isn't all about scaring people away. Sometimes it's about bringing them closer.

One man in Tennessee is spreading the love in a spooky way, by giving out hugs while wearing the same white, stone-faced mask that Michael Myers wore in the 'Halloween' slasher films. The man wore blue coveralls and held a cardboard sign that read 'free hugs' along a busy sidewalk in Gallatin.

Some jumped out of their cars to grab a hug and picture with the man. Some kids were spooked at first, but eventually made their way over to the street corner at Gallatin Square to embrace him. The man said he just wants to give people who may be going through a hard time a morale boost.

"At first, it's kind of creepy," said one woman. "Then once you know why he's doing it, it's actually kind of cool."

One person who got a hug told him his dog recently died and he could use a pick-me-up.

"You never really know who needs a hug," the man, who didn't identify himself told WSMV.
