RALEIGH, N.C. — A jury on Friday found a Raleigh man guilty of attacking a 17-year-old jogger two years ago.

Billy Trapp, 47, was convicted on first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree rape and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges. A judge sentenced him to more than 55 years in prison.

The charges stem from a June 2007 assault of a jogger in Edna Metz Wells Park. The girl was slashed with a box cutter, and Trapp tried to sexually assault her, authorities said.

The attack occurred eight days after Trapp was released from jail after pleading guilty to a reduced charge in an April 2007 assault on a homeless woman.
